That convo with the chef was REALLY good. I had that aha moment when he stressed how important it is to remove anxiety from the guest within 30 seconds. It is SOOOO true. I have worked retail/restaurant/customer service type roles for 40 years now and it was always my goal to turn that frown upside down. Unfortunately people seem to need more hand holding than ever, which is very hard for someone who is fiercely independent to understand. I only wish that the service industry was more respected by the general public in this country. Not sure what we can do to change that. But at least I can know that I am able to help someone handle their otherwise stressful day.
