Italy's Defense Minister -

"It's interesting to figure out what they're even supposed to do there—go on an expedition? Fifteen Italians, fifteen French, fifteen Germans—it sounds like the beginning of a joke."

Italy has refused to participate in the European countries' ridiculous "defense" of Greenland.

Expectations / Reality

I need to petition the Giant Throbbing Brain of Malice Locals for your infinite wisdom:

My oldest son is graduating high school this year and chose a trip to Japan as his graduation gift. So, in April, he and I are going there for 9 days (mom and little brother were perfectly fine NOT tagging along 🤣🤣).
I've never been intimidated by travel, even to international or sketchy locations, however, this is my first trip to Japan too and I am somewhat anxious. Partially because the different alphabet/characters make translations more difficult on the fly, and partially because it's a different culture with different etiquette and I don't want to be a bad tourist.
We primarily plan to visit sites around Tokyo and Osaka, with a trip to Mt Fuji on the bullet train too (hopefully I don't run into Tangerine and Lemon).
What advice do you all have for our trip?
Must see places? Tours? Food to try? Uniquely Japanese experiences? Fun kitschy stuff?
I'm open for any advice you might have.
