Sunday Story Time:
We almost lost a kitty this morning. I've been letting Klaus and Vlad out on the patio of our second-story apartment to sniff around and listen to the birds. Klaus, in particular, likes to get up on the balustrade, makes him feel cool.
While they were out there this morning, I heard a loud sound, as of a cat landing from a great height.
I rushed out and saw only Vlad on the patio. I looked over the edge.
And saw a black kitty on the patio below, about eight or ten feet down. The crazy fucker had either jumped or fallen.
I screamed a silent "FUCK!" and rushed down to rescue him, praying he would not get spooked and run off. If he did that, there would be little hope of finding him or him finding his way back.
He was still on the downstairs patio. But when I climbed over and tried to grab him, he climbed up the fucking wall. Like seven feet high.
I reached up and peeled him down and managed to keep him calm enough to get him back upstairs. His tailed was all fluffed and he was spooked for a while.
I was shaking for a long time, thanking God I had heard him jump (or fall) and that he had stayed put until I got to him.

We went to Israel 15 yrs ago, while there I bought a bag of coconut macaroons at the Shuk (giant outdoor market). Haven't had a decent macaroon since until this morning. My wife went on a quest, she started with almond paste from blanched and peeled almonds. After an hour or so, we had some delicious macaroons along with plates other delights on this Easter Sunday.
Happy Easter!
