I agree with this.
What I find it tough to fathom is, how are there such vast differences in ability in the human species? Is it really the case there are these profound differences in human intellect, yet we still manage to function together at the level of a municipality? Like how is it there are people who cannot even picture an apple in their minds, some who can do so but only in grey tones (what the hell is that about), and I'm running around with this instant selection of granny smiths and pink ladies in full color and dimension on hand? I would have thought the gulf so profound as to make me a god among men...I suppose if you look at it income-wise, I'm up there, employing perhaps several average persons via my economic will on a day to day basis. But evolutionarily, what does that mean? Why don't most people have the intellect I do? Or is it the range of human intellect is objectively small, even if there is this seemingly huge variance within?
What does the variance mean about us as a species? Is there some applicable limiting principle that kept people with higher-order intellects from simply taking over the species and edging the others out? I guess it's the right balance, whatever it is, of worker/warrior/slave class, that we only evolved to this level of stratification, and it never tightened?
Is Idiocracy not a future state, but one imposed on mankind for the past hundred millennia?
