I find the secret to gaming on the PC is to remain 5 years behind the curve on everything, games and hardware
You get all the same experiences for about 1/4 the price
I figured out 25+ years ago the expectation in PC gaming was always being set to the fringes of affordability, and if I simply governed my own expectations, the experience becomes more available and accessible. Five years later(TM), there are an embarrassment of reviews available on a given game or piece of hardware, the drivers have been worked out, the middle range of today's hardware runs like the best of what they had available 5 years ago. Oh, and the Steam sales mean the games are dirt cheap
And since I don't give a shit about other people's video game experiences and how they compare to mine, it's all upside for me. I'm just in my own little time-bubble.
It's like relativity, but applied to ray tracing and pixel shaders.
My first workout (~1mi run) since having my baby! It was uncomfortable, and i fully expect to be sore tomorrow. My pace felt really fast while i running, but wasn't so fast when I reviewed my workout stats. 🙈🙈🙈 I'm looking forward to getting back into shape and to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes. Wish me luck!
