Maybe I'm just irrationally triggered by this, but by god do I get triggered when people refer to their bf/gf husband/wife as their 'partner'.

For heaven's sake, what is this, a business meeting?

It also to me feels like cheapening the importance of that person, as using a term like partner is not nearly as significant in its meaning as wife etc.
