Just thought I'd share before anyone here fell into the same trap. I have had 2 people in my life fall victim to this that i am helping to secure thier accounts and stuff.
They were trying to renew their passport and googled how to do it, at the top of the results is a website called "united passport.com". Do not use this website. They have perfect SEO and are a legit business but they are the " hotels.com" of passport renewal. Their website looks like the real .gov renewal site but it most certainly is not. And they charge $130 to basically send a copy of your application to you which you are then supposed to send to the government.
