boy was i wrong. he really lays out what he was going for with the Prague Spring, and all the machinations of the Soviets against him. Most revelatory is how they harassed him and his wife for decades, including punishing anyone who was seen being kind to them.
Great man, great book, well written.
When it comes to his ethics, Gavin is a lumbering bug-man in a skin suit like that guy on Men in Black. His revenge for the Trump era will be especially performative and cruel as he wanders from situation to situation pulling the wings off the metaphorical flies trying to find favor not with his voting base, but with his Party handlers and benefactors far and wide.
