You get all the same experiences for about 1/4 the price
I figured out 25+ years ago the expectation in PC gaming was always being set to the fringes of affordability, and if I simply governed my own expectations, the experience becomes more available and accessible. Five years later(TM), there are an embarrassment of reviews available on a given game or piece of hardware, the drivers have been worked out, the middle range of today's hardware runs like the best of what they had available 5 years ago. Oh, and the Steam sales mean the games are dirt cheap
And since I don't give a shit about other people's video game experiences and how they compare to mine, it's all upside for me. I'm just in my own little time-bubble.
It's like relativity, but applied to ray tracing and pixel shaders.
