This is a really good interview. Elfman has always been kind of a mystery to me, and I can see why. I like how he discusses the Mystic Knights and the Forbidden Zone, which led to him eventually landing The Nightmare Before Christmas. He’s one of those types who likes to figure stuff out for himself. I can relate to that.
I immediately liked him when I first heard Oingo Boingo in the early 1980s. I didn’t see his connection to Forbidden Zone until many years later. I did see the movie when it was released to theaters. We had no idea WTF we just watched.
Maybe I'm a purist but god damn whenever I see someone using high quality spirits to make some god forsaken cheap cocktail I call that heresy and I think they should be purged...
Tim Pool has lost his way. He has become too comfortable with his own opinions. He's been yapping about what it means to be a man. He thinks men should be out fighting bears or whatever. He reads other people's work, and comments on it for a very comfortable living. Just because he came from a different economic background doesn't mean the last 15 years of being a YouTuber hasn't changed him.
He's got soft hands, brother.
