Got some bad news the other night that shook me, a close friend is experiencing his marriage coming apart via infidelity (hers).
They're both middle-aged, and both lawyers. When they married, he was an engineer for that chemical company you know, but he got his law degree early on and works wills and trusts for a large firm in a big city (TLDR: High IQ, high earnings potential). She's in corporate law, I believe focused on trademarks. At one point, she made more than him, and I think that's significant, but upon her ask a decade and change into the career, and my buddy was working 7 days a week and became the major breadwinner, pulling home salary closer to the mid-six-figures than the lower end.
They have 3 kids together, one is almost a year old.
This was sudden onset, a record scratch where everything went off the rails seemingly at once and from out of nowhere. She's sexting multiple guys, taunting him with stories of off-the-grid threesomes. She's joined online hate/militia chat groups, and insists my friend doesn't have what it takes to manage the coming boog apocalypse. She tells him he "stole her youth", and she's no longer attracted to him sexually. She goes out of her way to emasculate him, especially in front of friends and family.
I went through the breakup of my own marriage at about the same age, so I'm wondering: What is it with successful women and the responsibilities of motherhood and marriage?
With my ex, it wasn't about having a satisfying sex life, she told me on post-separation hookups she initiated that satisfying her in bed was never my problem. And I don't think that was the real issue in either case. For myself, I made great money as an engineer, but she rose through the ranks of pharma sales until she had her own consultant firm and makes literal millions now, has a 2.5 mil house and takes trips to Europe to ride her motorcycle around in the Swiss Alps. I had thought we could recover, up until she got mad and threatened me over custody of my daughter. She ended up with half-custody, and then voluntarily gave me full custody for the last 6 years or so of my daughter's minority. And I knew from the outset that's how it would go, bc I know her.
I think some women miss that dopamine "I'm desired and pursued, sans any responsibility or commitment" thing from their early 20's, thinking it's supposed to go on forever. I don't think people by and large get that marriage isn't supposed to perpetuate freshness and sexual bliss, it's there to secure a good environment to raise children in, and assuage the natural jealousy around the male and the genetic surety of his offspring. IOW, it's an institution erected against the base nature of the human individual. It's supposed to be that guarantee, because no human being after 15 years or so in a monogamous relationship should have to compete with e.g. the greater Philadelphia area in terms of suitability for mating behaviors that don't go anywhere.
So what gives? Why do some otherwise successful women with successful husbands behave in such childish and immature ways regarding sex and marriage? Both women in the examples given came from married-to-this-day parents (and so were mine). Both were in marriages that were successful over a decade, in my case 15 years together, 12-13 of them happy.
Oh, forgot something significant: This guy is the very same who turned me on to Malice and is likely responsible for my sub, here
So blame him lol
