I figured out 25+ years ago the expectation in PC gaming was always being set to the fringes of affordability, and if I simply governed my own expectations, the experience becomes more available and accessible. Five years later(TM), there are an embarrassment of reviews available on a given game or piece of hardware, the drivers have been worked out, the middle range of today's hardware runs like the best of what they had available 5 years ago.
And since I don't give a shit about other people's video game experiences and how they compare to mine, it's all upside for me. I'm just in my own little time-bubble.
It's like relativity, but applied to ray tracing and pixel shaders.
My life has been hell at work the last 3 weeks. We fired one of our project managers for not doing his job. The big Boss dumped 3 of his biggest jobs that he was bungling up badly in my lap. They're a disaster. Financials this week and through all my audits, we're showing losses up to $650k or more. I've worked more this week than any other time in my career. Damn near burnt out. Finished my last financial review last night at 8:30. Good news is, I got a nice raise this week. 🫤 So I guess there is a plus side to getting all the trash dumped in my lap to fix.
My three jobs. Perfect. Functioning like a well oiled machines and in the black. The 3 I had dumped in my lap, bleeding out the ass in the red. Poorly managed.
Pray for me. Gonna be hard to right the ship on these.
